Through rhinoplasty the nose is reshaped and refined in order to improve the form and function. This includes reducing the size of a large nose, narrowing a wide nose, straightening a crooked nose, reducing bumps and reshaping the tip.
Airflow is also improved by addressing areas of nasal obstruction which can cause breathing and snoring problems, as well as sinus problems. Surgery is performed through a small incision on the columella or through intranasal incisions.
Then the bone and cartilage are sculptured to provide a new shape for the nose and all incisions are closed. Typically a patient wears a small nasal cast and intranasal splints for a week.
